United Therapeutics Corporation’s 2011-12 Grant for the Hamilton Naki-MESAB-United Therapeutics Scholarship for UCT Medical Students.

UCT Faculty of Health Sciences was awarded a grant from Maryland based United Therapeutics totalling $14,326.00. This established scholarship will go through the 2013 academic year. Dr. Louis Sullivan, one of the founders of MESAB and a board member of United Therapeutics Corporation regularly visits with the recipients on campus.

Dr. Sullivan was one of the founders of Medical Education for South African Blacks (MESAB) formed in 1985. From 1994-2007, he served as chairman of the organization, which raised scholarship funds in the United States and South Africa for more than 10,000 black health professions students, who are now physicians, nurses, dentists and other health professionals in South Africa.
