Opera News: Pretty Yende, Soprano, in Northeast Tour

Pretty Yende, PDip ’06, PGDip ’08, and celebrated soprano, is performing in three venues in New York City and Washington, DC this fall.  Accompanied by Professor Kamal Khan, Director of the UCT School of Opera, Ms. Yende will sing at Carnegie Hall on October 13 as part of the UBUNTU: Music and Arts of South Africa festival and at the Kennedy Center on November 6.  She will also return to the Metropolitan Opera for four October performances as Pamina, the Queen of the Night’s daughter, in Mozart’s The Magic Flute (Die Zauberflote).  This is her second Met performance since her debut last year as Countess Adèle in Rossini’s Le Comte Ory, which earned standing ovations.

We are thrilled to announce that Ms. Yende has agreed to meet with UCT alumni after her performances in NYC and DC!  Thirty tickets have been reserved for her Metropolitan Opera performance on October 21 in NYC and 20 group tickets have been reserved for her Washington, DC concert on November 6.  Join us for this limited time, exclusive opportunity! Each ticket will cover the cost of the performance, allow you the opportunity to take a picture with Ms. Yende and obtain her autograph, and give a gift in support of the UCT Opera School Endowment to ensure that future Pretty Yendes are given the chance to cultivate their talents at UCT.
